Why "A full immersion English summer camp?"KidsCampAmerica is based on the belief that the fastest, most effective way to learn any language is to be completely immersed in it. Most everyone has traveled to a new country and experienced the enormous progress they make when surrounded by a new language. At KidsCampAmerica our kids don't just learn English; they live it.
My child is a native speaker. Is KidsCampAmerica for him or her?Yes! KidsCampAmerica is not an English school. It is modeled after an American/ English Day Camp and allows kids from all over the world -- who love speaking English, miss speaking English, or just want to meet English speaking friends -- to do just that. Our camp is active, instructional, safe, and most important -- fun for everyone.
My child is a beginner. Is KidsCampAmerica right for him or her?Yes! KidsCampAmerica always has staff on hand who speak German fluently and can help out if the need arises. Most of our staff works in international schools where students at all levels of English comprehension are mixed in their classrooms.
With our small groups of one group leader per twelve children, each child gets the support and encouragement they need to thrive at our camp. KidsCampAmerica is always active, instructional, safe, and fun and "beginner" children make the MOST progress when immersed in English at our camp.
Can my child come for just a half day?Yes! KidsCampAmerica offers a full day program from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Participants can also come for just the English morning sessions: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm (with lunch included). Alternatively participants can come for just the afternoon activities from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm (after lunch). We also offer extended care for busy parents: 8:00 - 9:00 am or 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Please see our Pricing page for more information.
How many children are in each group? To ensure that each participant receives the support they need, KidsCampAmerica limits the number of participants per group leader to 12. This allows the group leader a complete overview of his or her participants and the time needed to assist those who need more help.
Is KidsCampAmerica academic? No. At KidsCampAmerica we don't learn English; we live it. This is why our camp is attractive to native speakers and learners alike: we play, sing songs, do sports, create art, and perform drama -- all day, all in English. We believe this is the most natural way to learn any language. There are no workbooks or grammar sheets at KidsCampAmerica. There is interaction, cooperative group games, projects and activities.
What are the morning English sessions like?Morning English sessions are thoroughly planned so that children at all levels of English comprehension will enjoy them. The first session runs 9:30-10:30, the second from 11:00-12:00, with snack in between so the group can relax.
How do we select our activities?KidsCampAmerica offers kids the chance to plan their own afternoons so they get to do what they want to do! Upon registering here you will receive an email containing our activity selection form. You and your child can then choose from a choice of six activities each day!
